Difference between Old Testament Believers and New Testament Christians

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is a mediator or a better covenant, which was established upon better promises- Hebrews 8:6

The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ marked a significant point not only in the history of the world, but most importantly, in our Faith. His death marked the end of the old Covenant and the beginning of the New and better Covenant, which was established on better promises. As Christians under the new covenant, we need to realize our special privilege in Christ and stop leaving and operating like believers under the old covenant.
Here are a few of the differences between the believers under the two covenants
1
O:Mostly Jews, believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
N:Christians, followers of the Lord Jesus Christ

2
O:Dead Spiritually, not being born again
N:Alive Spiritually, Born Again

3
O:Children of Abraham
N:Sons of God

4
O:No Holy Spirit in them
N:Have the Holy Spirit

5
O:Only Prophets, Priests and Kings anointed by the Holy Ghost
N:All the children of God have the Holy Spirit in them

6
O:Holy Spirit only came upon others for some specific assignments at a time eg Gideon
N:Holy Spirit living in us perpetually

7
O:Prophets (and sometime priests) are the mouth piece of God
N:Have Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers and others anointed with ministerial gifts

8
O:Only the high priest can access the presence of God, and that once in a year
N:Every child of God has access into the presence of God anywhere, anytime and as many times as possible

9
O:God’s Presence locked up only in the Holy of Holies
N:His presence is everywhere now, after the veil in the temple was turned in two

10
O:Approached God only through sacrifices that they bring to the priest to offer for them
N:No need for sacrifice as Christ has offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice, once for all.

11.
O:Cannot Worship God in Spirit and in Truth
N:Can worship God in Spirit and in Truth

12
O:Worship God only in Temples and in High places
N:Worship God anywhere, anytime

13
O:Because they are dead spiritually, cannot get personal guidance from God. Have to depend on prophets or other physical means (eg Gideon and the Fleece)
N:Because they have the Holy Spirit, can receive personal guidance from God in their spirit

14
O:Prophets are to lead and guide the people because they do not have the Holy Spirit to hear from God directly
N:The Holy Spirit is to lead and guide, NOT the prophet. Prophets and others can only confirm what the Holy Spirit has already said

15
O:God speaks to them mainly through the prophets and his law
N:God speaks to them by His Spirit through the inward witness, the still small voice, the audible voice/ word of God and sometimes through visions and revelations

16.
O:Can only approach God through an intermediary, NOT directly
N:Can approach God directly without passing through any intermediary

17
O:Sacrifices are a major part of theirworship system
N:Sacrifices NOT needed in our worship as Jesus became the perfect sacrifice for all time

18
O:Dwelling place of God is the temple
N:Dwelling place of God in the Man, not even the church building

19
O:Cannot manifest the gifts and fruits of the Spirit because they don’t have him in them
N:Can manifest the gift and fruit of the spirit because He lives in them

20
O:Looked forward in HOPE to the atoning work of Jesus the Messiah who is to come
N:Believed in the atoning work of Jesus Christ that took place in the past
